Vegan leather - Use Eco Friendly Leather to Stop Animal Cruelty

Recently two entrepreneurs from Mexico developed an eco-friendly leather made from Cactus. The entrepreneur's names are Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez. Both are native of Mexico. Earlier, there were many vegan leather backpacks, vegan leather purse, vegan leather jackets, eco-friendly leather furniture in the market but generally, they use plastic to design it. And we are already familiar with plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is a disputable threat to our environment. Since the commercial use of plastic and negligence in the usage of it created harmful effects for both lives in the ocean as well as on land.

The Discovery of eco-friendly vegan leather made by Cactus can be a huge breakthrough to protect the animals from cruelty and the environment from plastic waste. The entrepreneurs gave this leather a name, Desserto. This is made of nopal Cactus leaves and totally cruelty-free. Why I am mentioning cruelty-free? Because whenever we talk about leather, we normally imagine that there was an animal killed for leather products. But this Cactus made leather is completely vegan. Both entrepreneurs own the company, Adriano Di Marti, under which they developed this eco-friendly leather.

Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez presented their vegan leather in Leather Fair Lineapaelle 2019 in Milan and RawAssembly 2019, Australia. The brand received a positive response and appreciated by many like Vogue Australia. A report from Fashion United revealed that this partial degradable leather, Desserto, is entirely organic, cruelty-free and sustainable alternative, and non-toxic.

In the words of co-founder, Adrián López in an interview with Fashion United "After two years of research and development, we managed to produce a suitable material that complies with the features and technical/mechanical specifications required by those industries that use animal or synthetic leather,”.  This competitive leather possesses all features like elasticity, durability, softness, customized and breathable.

Further, the innovators told that the concept behind making this eco-friendly leather was inspired by plastic pollution and cruelty on animals. According to PETA, every year billions of animals slaughtered for their skin. Mostly these animals face the horrors of factory farming-including uttermost crowd and confinement, slaughtering and other inhuman cruelty acts.

After two years of hard-working research on this concept, finally, Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez succeed to develop this vegan leather. Despite starting their own brand, they decided to become an eco-friendly leather supplier. It is also cost-competitive. "It’s the right time to offer this alternative because not only are consumer industries interested in new materials like these but also more and more end-consumers are demanding environment-friendly materials," López Velarde told Fashion United.

It is still unclear when the market will start manufacturing leather products made of this. Earlier, Adidas introduced ocean plastic made sneakers and t-shirt in the market which was praised and got a positive response. Sri Lankan cricket team donned this plastic made t-shirt in an international match to support environment-friendly initiatives.

In the recent past, more people are stepping forward to protect animals. This kind of innovations should be accepted as soon as possible so that we can stop animal cruelty. It is our duty as we are the most developed species on this mother earth. I request you all to share this article as much as you can. Thank YOU
